Start of an exhibition within the event programm of this year’s photokina was the question for self portraits of photographers to the image agency akg-images in Berlin (Archiv für Kunst und Geschichte – Archive for Art and History). The research for pictures generated unexpected interesting and amusing photos which now can be seen under the title “Photos of photography”.
Fascinating photos in front of the Press Centre North show in chronological order the diversity of possibilities to play the gallery as a photographer – volitional or accidentally. It becomes apparent how characteristic self portraits can be developed through technique, light and shadows.
Using the mirror for own frontal photographs or hiding one’s self through reflexion in other’s pupil – apparently there are no boundaries set to the photographer’s fantasy. Eye-catching for visitors is the artful handling of light and shadow. All the photographs developed from that, show quite primitively the creator as physical object which still highlights the individuality of every person.
